Despite being an economist by trade, my true passion is photography. After many years with 35mm cameras, I slowly “converted” to the joys and benefits of larger formats and today, (almost) all of my work starts with 4x5 negatives.

The images here were taken in a variety of places, around Arizona and elsewhere. These images go beyond “classical” (urban) landscape photography by looking beyond the object at hand and searching for the abstract shapes and patterns that make up the object. In that sense, the images encourage the viewer to explore my photographs and search for these same “hidden” shapes and patterns that appeared on my ground glass just before I took the photograph. It is for this reason that I prefer to print my images in relatively small print sizes.

All my photographs are silver gelatin prints, hand-printed on a traditional enlarger and hand-processed with standard photo chemicals.
